Job Description

We are looking for friendly, energetic people who have the qualifications and skills that match today’s opportunity.  The Commercial Real Estate Department has an opening for a Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer.  This position is responsible for producing income property loans.  Supports areas of loan origination, processing, packaging, underwriting, marketing, closing, and reporting of loans.  The emphasis is placed on individual quality loan production, customer relations, and follow-up of loans through to loan closing.  Washington Federal is proud of the high value that we all place on simply being nice when serving our co-workers and Washington Federal clients. 

Key functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Originate, underwrite and service quality income property loans, to be held in Washington Federal's loan portfolio.
  • Report and advise senior management of current lending trends, rates, and competitive programs in the market.
  • Inform and train credit analysis and bank personnel in all aspects of Washington Federal underwriting theory and practice.
  • Coordinate loan servicing with the departments processors and funders.
  • Monitor compliance to consumer protection issues and regulations, ensure the processing and handling of all customer information and confidential bank information is done in a secure manner.

Job Schedule

Full-time schedule; 40 hours per workweek.

Requirements

Must have a minimum of five years commercial loan portfolio management and/or loan production experience or equivalent experience underwriting for and placing loans with institutional investors.  Strong credit and underwriting skills required.  Prior sales, mortgage banking, or loan rep/business development experience in preferred.  Knowledge of legal documentation and terminology relating to real estate transactions.  Knowledge of appraisal practices and procedures.  Completion of courses in property analysis or equivalent training in commercial real estate banking.  Position requires a college degree or equivalent.  Ability to deal with the public , in person and by telephone, in a personable manner.  Ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions.  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.  Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.  High level of accuracy and attention to detail.  Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on work assignments.  Math aptitude and typing and 10-key.
